For the expansion of our drug discovery team in Ghent we are currently looking for a (m/f):
Scientist - Cell Biology

  •  Together with the Head of Biology and the respective Project teams you will design, plan and implement a fit-for-purpose biological testing cascade for early drug discovery programs

  • You will plan and implement disease-mimicking biological assays using established cell lines, primary cells and/or patient-derived cells.

  • Identify, evaluate and implement new technologies and advanced methods if necessary to answer the scientific questions that come up in the different projects

  • Support, coach and guide one or more of your team members

  • Translate scientific ideas and questions into experimental valuable data

  • Evaluate, analyze and interpret research data

  • Present complex scientific data in a clear, comprehensive manner

  • Ensure a high level scientific standard is maintained on all projects

  • Stay updated with the biology and cell assay options in projects you are assigned to  

  • PhD or equivalent with significant Cell biology and assay development experience, at least 4 years of which in industry

  • You have a profound knowledge of biological pathways (e.g. cytokine signalling involvement in the key events of autoimmune pathogenesis and disease)

  • Expertise in general molecular biology and various cell biology techniques, experience in working with primary cell systems and co-culture assays is a plus

  • You are able to plan and implement disease-mimicking biological assays using established cell lines or primary cells  

  • You have the ability to work on multiple projects through intense collaboration and to adapt priorities to achieve challenging deliverables.
    You bring new ideas and have a strong creativity to tackle issues.

  • Experience with inflammation, oncology, neurology or fibrosis disorders is a plus

  • Highly collaborative, self-motivated, team-oriented, problem-solving individual

  • Enthusiastic team player in a small company setting

  • You are fluent in English and can communicate research results to the team and cross-functional stakeholders across the company
